ABOUT VALOR
VALOR began as a gathering place during uncertain times when connection felt distant. In 2020, a yet to be re-named organization was a humble home for friends to play games, laugh, and foster a sense of belonging. Along the way, serendipitous encounters and shared values transformed it into something much deeper — a collective with purpose, passion, and a vision that keeps growing. Read on to learn about how it all came to be, and know that the best is yet to come.
It all started with an ending. After leading a successful esports organization, prawfeT and Katastrofik decided to step away from the competitive FPS scene during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. While exploring the world of Fallout 76 in late 2020, prawfeT met Jette, and the first spark of a brand-new community was lit. They were a small circle of friends who simply wanted a laid-back, chill space to hang out in.
At this point, the name of the new community was still being decided. During a typical late night session of Valorant, Jette noticed a single word that stood out. Inspired by the close ties the community had with military veterans and active duty members—and the way they bonded over the tactical shooter—the name seemed to leap out at her from the screen. “What about… VALOR?” At that moment, it clicked. The name carried weight, purpose, and pride. It represented strength, discipline, and unity. And just like that, VALOR was born.
In 2021, the circle widened again with the arrival of Fel, met during a run through and stream of Black Desert Online. That friendship, and countless hours of gaming, conversation, and shared aspirations laid the groundwork for what was to come. Together, the team began to imagine VALOR as something beyond a small (but growing) gaming group. They envisioned turning VALOR into a broader MMO-focused community. At first, they experimented with games like Fallout 76 and Elder Scrolls Online, but they soon realized that to build something truly lasting with real structure and growth, they needed to anchor themselves in a guild-driven MMO.
That opportunity came in late 2022, when VALOR stepped into World of Warcraft. The guild officially formed on December 19, starting with just 15 members, some of whom were new to the game entirely. The team quickly recognized the importance of mentorship and inclusion as part of the culture, and from that philosophy, the VALOR Academy was formed.
Momentum for the guild grew rapidly. By attending events like BlizzCon and PAX, plus launching new teams, it began evolving from a tight-knit crew into a thriving community.
By Season 3 of Dragonflight, the demand for more leadership, more teams, merch, and structured community enhancing programs was clear, and so the leaders within VALOR got to work.
Now, everything you see today is still the beginning and just the surface. VALOR’s journey is ongoing, and growing with every new member, every new idea, and every new challenge.
